Purpose

The purpose of the CIA Maize/Wheat flux station was:

• to quantify and examine the seasonal distribution of energy, water and carbon fluxes of major crops grown in an irrigation system located in the semi-arid regions of Australia; and

• to determine whether irrigated agro-ecosystems in Australian semi-arid climate zones are net sources or sinks of carbon dioxide.
