The Oxford flux station was setup to follow the change in ecosystem carbon of a pasture after removal of grazing animals and the establishment of a native forest. It is located on the Canterbury Plains in the South Island of New Zealand.
The site was established in October 2005. It is managed by Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research and is supported by core funding from the New Zealand Ministry of Science & Innovation.
